Minimum Transform

ART PRIZE 2013

Using a minimum palette of fluourescent lights, paint, and acoustic panels, this project was an experiment in taking a restrained hand at transforming the existing space—the former City Museum of Grand Rapids. The project plays off the existing rhythm of recessed display windows and the banal tectonics of hung ceilings. Color and form are used to insert a virtual wedge into the space and to cast a subtle haze of color back onto the room.
